Families who came to the Mid Derbyshire Circuit Big Day Together on 6th August really did think just that. At £8 per adult for a hot cob lunch, ice cream and scone with jam and cream, and accompanying children receiving a free lunch box and ice cream, it was a real bargain.
And then, of course, there was the bouncy castle, games, sandpit and paddling pool, not to mention crafts, faces well and truly painted and lots of running around; it was a really great day.. Th sun shone down on us as we pointed out in no uncertain terms to the town of Belper that the Methodist Church is well and truly alive, generous and a good place to gather together.
Someone was heard to say that it was better than going to the actual seaside because the travel with little ones made her life so much easier. Others enjoyed letting their artistic side be seen with painting at the CAMEO craft table. There was even a competition for the best Victoria sponge cake, jam, small cakes and flower arranging, so there really was something for everyone.
And, of course, as always when there is a grand get-together, there was much conversation, laughter and friends to catch up with.
The only disappointment was not seeing the circuit staff on the bouncy castle; well. maybe next time ...
