Darley Dale Methodist Church was formed in September 2017 when the congregations of Dale Road, Darley Hillside and Hackney Methodist Churches joined together on the Dale Road site.
Having joined together, we shaped our worship and church activities for our new united congregation, but the Covid-19 pandemic meant that the use of our church premises ceased, towards the end of March 2020, in line with Government and Methodist Church guidance, so our church services and our community events like lunch clubs and fellowship groups could not happen and we were not able to continue to offer the use of the premises to community groups.
We have been worshipping online via 'Zoom' since Easter Sunday and sharing resources for worship and prayer through our fortnightly newsletter, as well as continuing our pastoral support in accordance with the Government and Methodist Church guidance.
Since the beginning of September, we have been gathering for Sunday morning worship on 'Zoom' at 10am and in church at 11am, when the Covid-19 restrictions have allowed it. Numbers of worshippers in church have to be limited and our worship in church is being tailored to comply with Government and Methodist Church guidance; we wear masks, maintain social distancing, take other measures in accordance with our risk assessment and don't sing.
Advent and Christmas will be very different for us this year, but we are marking them in our worship and in other ways, such as with our prayer tree which members of the community are invited to add to.
