The holidays can be long and entertaining children can be expensive and tiring.
The idea of a Family Holiday Club was first trialled at Tansley and it then travelled to Ilkeston and Marehay. A little like Messy Church, this style of holiday club offers crafts and activities alongside refreshments. They ran as drop in clubs, open for two hours, so families could drop in when they were free and not feel restricted by times or missing the beginning.
A Family Holiday Club is designed to encourage the whole family to come together to learn, worship and play together. This releases human resources to be able to offer hospitality and, most importantly, conversation with those attending the club. This style of club values the parents, the 'missing generation', as well as the children, with the team keen to talk to them and discover who they are whilst the children were occupied. These have been very popular.
There are two clubs currently available: an Easter Club and an eco-friendly Creation Story Club. Both are ready for churches to use if you wish to run one from your church.
